Ponderosa Steakhouse

This afternoon my family and I went on a stroll through Int'l drive in Orlando, FL. We opted to have lunch at Ponderosa Steakhouse, which is a buffet that has been in business since 1963 and founded by Dan Blocker - yes, the actor from "Bonanza"!
In fact, the original name of the chain was "Bonanza Steakhouse". A cool thing to know is that the buffet portion of the restaurant did not offer hot food items until 1984.

Though most of their food is now set up in buffet areas, visitors still have the option to select an entree in addition to the buffet choices. (We did not opt to do this today)

Pictured above is my first plate which I had spaghetti with meatballs in tomato sauce topped with parmesan cheese. On the side I had bread (not pictured) and BBQ chicken wings.

For dessert I had a strawberry marbled pound cake slice topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and banana slices drizzled in strawberry syrup. In addition to my "mini" sundae I had some bread pudding which had sliced peaches and raisins baked into it. There was a bit more cinnamon than needed in this recipe, but overall I enjoyed it.
